Ye Returns to Twitter
After Elon Musk reinstated his account over the weekend.
After he was locked out of his account earlier this month due to posts that were deemed antisemitic and against hate speech policies, Ye has now officially returned to Twitter as Elon Musk restored access to his account on Sunday. In response to Ye’s first “testing” tweet on November 21, Musk sent a message of positivity writing, “Don’t kill what ye hate, Save what ye love.” Ye later tweeted “Shalom,” a Hebrew word meaning peace, extending an olive branch to the Jewish community.
The move follows the reinstatement of Donald Trump‘s Twitter account, a decision which was informed via a Twitter poll tallying over 15 million votes with 51.8% in favor of allowing the 45th president of the United States to return to the platform. Other controversial figures making their way back onto Twitter include Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson.
Following his prior removal from Twitter and deal severances with brands such as adidas, Balenciaga, Gap, it was announced that Ye is set to acquire the conservative social media platform Parler which describes itself as a place for “uncancelable free speech.” So far, the deal is still expected to close by the end of Q4.
