New Balance Gives the 57/40 a "Workwear" Overhaul
While also dropping a pair in “Henna with Neo Flame.”
While sneakerheads around the world gear up for the release of New Balance‘s 57/40 “Refined Future,” the footwear giant is buying its time with two more colorways that are sure to see you through fall. Welcome to the “Workwear with Henna” and “Henna with Neo Flame” iterations, delivering mustard-brown and beetroot hues respectively just in time for the seasons ahead.
Drawing from the styles that littered the ’80s and ’90s, the 57/40 is undeniably New Balance thanks to its huge mid-panel branding and a shape that’s instantly recognizable, yet at the same time contemporary and unlike anything else in the NB line-up. It’s this combination that has made the 57/40 a successful GR pair — but given New Balance’s track record as of late, what isn’t a hit?
For these specific pairs, New Balance puts a big focus on materials. This is most evidently seen on the “Workwear” iteration, which uses a dark mustard-like suede alongside other tonal touches of suede to create a multi-layered upper, while a green “N” emblem cuts through the middle in all its embroidered goodness. A chunky midsole is met with another slimmer layer of sole cushioning, bringing in the ’80s and ’90s references, and subsequently rounding out the shoe.
