Nike Brings Back the OG Air Huarache "Magenta"
One of the legendary silhouette’s most famous colorways.
2021 has been an enjoyable year for fans of Nike‘s classic Air Huarache: as the beloved, Tinker Hatfield-designed runner celebrates its 30th anniversary it’s rolled out in a bevy of OG styles. One of these is the “Magenta,” a summer-ready style with a watersports-esque color scheme that joins other classic colorways like the “Orca” and the “Bright Mango.”
It’s not just the color scheme that draws inspiration from watersports: the build does too. When Hatfield was designing the Air Huarache, he was inspired by the bright colors and material choices of activities like wakeboarding and jet skiing, so the Magenta features a purple and neon green neoprene “sheath” that wraps the wearer’s heel and forefoot, visible through the cut-out upper’s white leather folds.
Heel cages combine black and more neon green, and the Swoosh-less upper’s most bold piece of branding is provided by the large rubberized Air Huarache badge on the tongue. Further branded embellishment is supplied by way of an embossed Nike hit on the heel cage, while down below the look is completed by white midsoles and black outsoles.
The Nike Air Huarache “Magenta” is set to release via Nike SNKRS come July 8. Its MSRP is set at $120 USD.
