Nike Revives the OG Air Huarache "Orca"

And retailer Asphalt Gold is so excited about the two-tone style that it created a special video campaign.

A Tinker Hatfield-designed classic that shifted the world of running footwear when it debuted in 1991 before going on to become a lifestyle favorite, Nike‘s Air Huarache is back in all its OG glory to celebrate its 30th anniversary, and one of its revived colorways is “Orca.” A stark mix of black and white that differs greatly from the Huarache’s other original colorways like “Scream Green,” “Bright Mango” and “Deep Magenta,” the “Orca” shows the yin and yang of the Huarache’s waterski boot-inspired material construction while serving up a hearty scoop of ’90s Nike Sportswear style.

Black and white are indeed the only colors used on the “Orca,” but each provides maximum effect. The former is used on the upper’s base layer, namely the neoprene toebox, midfoot, collar and heel, while the latter appears on the mudguard and midfoot’s overlaid leather support system. The Huarache’s signature heel band uses a black anchor system and a clear heel strap, while black and white meet on the tongue badge. Down below, cushy white midsoles and black outsoles round off the look.

In honor of the Air Huarache “Orca” revival, European retailer Asphalt Gold has also produced a short film to accompany its release — one that nods to the “brighter days ahead” that the return of summer promises. You can expect the Nike Air Huarache “Orca” to release at Asphalt Gold and other Swoosh stockists come June 11, priced at $120 USD.
