Nike Is Celebrating the NBA's 75th Anniversary With a Special Dunk Low
A salute to 75 years of world-class hoops.
It’s been a little over 75 years since the NBA was founded on June 6, 1946, so Nike — the NBA’s official jersey and apparel partner — is paying homage to the league’s milestone with a special Dunk Low. Featuring a crisp color scheme that’s almost Air Jordan-esque and two subtle but serious details, this Dunk is an apt (and strikingly wearable) homage to 75 years of world-class hoops.
Uppers use smooth sail leather on the toebox, quarters and collars. This is contrasted by tumbled “Chile Red” leather on the mudguard and eyestays, plus black tumbled leather on the heel, heel tab and Swooshes. The shoe’s unique branded hits arrive on the nylon tongue and throat: the former boasts a NBA 75th anniversary badge in place of a standard Nike Sportswear graphic, while the latter appears via a laser-etched, Diamond Supply Co-esque diamond graphic on the silver lace deubre. A final hit of Nike branding appears on the heel, while black laces, sail midsoles with black contrast stitching and “Chile Red” outsoles round off the look.
Nike has yet to announce an official release date for this special Dunk, but early reports have its arrival placed in October, alongside a yet-to-be-revealed second colorway.
