Since returning to the market by way of an Antelope Canyon-inspired collaboration with Salehe Bembury, the 2002R has proven to be a strong model within the New Balance lifestyle category. Following up on its official team-up unveiling with BAPE, the silhouette is now being fashioned in a duo of GR “Beige” and “Cream” colorways that have just been uncovered by way of detailed imagery.
First in line is the “Beige” iteration, and to be quite frank, it’s namesake pretty much sums up its entire design ethos. Breathable mesh underlays, nubuck tongues, shoe strings and suede overlays are also dialed to its titular shade while notes of gray contrast through the N logos and branded hits on the tongues and lower throat. Interior liners also provide more accents as they are served up in a light gray tone. As you move down, the midsoles are left with a colorless aesthetic and come prepared next to beige and back treading.
Its release sibling falls on the brighter end of the spectrum as its creamy hue dominates most of its upper half. In terms of accenting hits, small notes of gold appear on the N logos while a subtle pop of red pokes out through the “R” in the 2202R branding that is situated towards the lateral heel. Cushioning unit is devised with that of creamy midsoles and color-blocked with golden exposed foam units and beige outsoles.
Both of these options are set to release on May 22 via select retailers like atmos for ¥16,280 (approx. $149 USD) each.
