BAPE and New Balance Reveal Full "Apes Together Strong" Collection
Two camo-coated takes on the 2002R plus a full capsule of co-branded apparel.
After revealing a duo of camo-coated takes on the 2002R at the beginning of March, BAPE and New Balance have officially announced their first collaborative collection. Dubbed “Apes Together Strong,” the eleven-piece collection is made up of the two above-mentioned takes on the 2002R, two full-zip hoodies, two pullover hoodies, three t-shirts and two pairs of cargo shorts, all of which meld BAPE’s classic prints and patterns with New Balance’s 100-year-plus running heritage for an offering that’s both stylish and practical.
The centerpiece of these offerings, of course, is the duo of 2002Rs. One uses BAPE’s signature 1st camo with black and sail accents while the other opts for a more muted grayscale camo, but each feature familiar motifs like New Balance’s N logo, a BAPE STA logo and a reflective shark face hit on the heel. Apparel follows suit, done up in either a muted olive or a cool gray to match the shoes. Standout pieces include the famed full-zip shark hoodies and the shorts, which make use of super-sized camo cargo pockets.
Look for the BAPE x New Balance “Apes Together Strong” collection to debut at BAPE and New Balance outposts in the Greater China region on June 5. A global release is set to follow later in the year.
BAPE isn’t the only New Balance partner putting out desirable collaborations either: Bodega recently revealed a special 990v3, created to celebrate its 15th anniversary.
