Acne Studios Resurrects Acne Paper With "Age of Aquarius" Issue
Issue 16 comes seven years after the publication’s last installment.
Acne Studios has returned with a new issue of its Acne Paper publication, coming after the Swedish label released a book and announced a new format for Acne Paper earlier this year. The new issue — themed around the Age of Aquarius — is the 16th, and comes seven years after 15th issue of the magazine-book hybrid arrived in 2014.
With its relaunch, Acne Paper has also been subject to a redesign. The new format includes an expansion to 500 pages, a new size, and a cover that can be unfolded into a poster. Despite the changed format, the publication continues its broad editorial approach and focus on a variety of subjects, with fashion stories from Justin French and Ib Kamara and Julie Greve and Lotta Volkova alongside artist profiles on the likes of Nam June Paik, Lu Yang and others.
Additionally, the Age of Aquarius issue looks at ecological and political issues facing the world today, with anti-racist activist and author Djamila Ribeiro, counterculture philosopher Daniel Pinchbeck, science writer Sam Gandy and more included in the issue. A stand-out of the issue is its cover jacket, which has been designed by 23-year-old Egyptian artist Yousef Sabry.
