Closer Look: Bodega x Nike Dunk Hi "Legend" Friends and Family
Up close with the tortoise jeweled, baseball mitt-inspired sneaker that was given away for free.
Boston-based imprint Bodega released its Nike Dunk Hi “Legend” back in December 2020, but it was the Friends and Family edition that really caught the attention of the sneaker aficionados among us. Now, HYPEBEAST can offer a closer look at the highly-limited pair, spotlighting the luxe materials and unique construction elements all around.
Unlike most high-profile collaborations — let alone ones in the Dunk sphere — the Bodega x Nike Dunk Hi “Legend” F&F was given away for free. Lucky winners were chosen at random, with access obtained via the special sports cards and a voucher that came in one of every 20 boxes of the general-release pair.
Upon closer inspection, we see that the F&F pair features a full gray suede and supple tumbled leather upper construction that centers around a tortoise jeweled Swoosh logo on the mid-panel. The use of black leather rope that’s been knotted is reminiscent of a baseball mitt, finding itself detailing the mid-panel, collar, and heel.
On the medial, the sneaker boutique has debossed its moniker into the suede using a burnt-out effect, while more tortoise details highlight areas such as the dual-branded tongue tag. Lastly, the premium leather has been stitched all around to once more nod to baseball, while the outsole takes on a dark, semi-translucent gum tone to complement elements such as the tortoise and brown leather details.
