UPDATE (September 8, 2020): Nike has confirmed the various prices for fragment designs forthcoming Jordan Brand apparel collaboration. Comprising five graphic items, the garments each retail for prices comparable to Nike’s premium in-line designs. The long-sleeved shirts, for instance, weigh in at $55 USD, the fleece pullover hoodies are $110 USD and the black co-branded chenille hoodie is $150 USD.

ORIGINAL STORY (September 4, 2020): Shortly after receiving official looks at the Jordan Air Cadence SP and Air Jordan 3 Retro SP, we now have a full look at the upcoming fragment design x Jordan Brand collection.

Building on his storied relationship with Nike/Jordan Brand, the collaborative collection from Hiroshi Fujiwara is centered around classic American gym wear. Aside from a lineup of sneakers, is a line up of raglan fleece sweaters, T-shirts and nylon pants in home (grey) and away (blue) colors. “I was looking at the vintage Jordan collections. I wanted to feel what the clothes looked like — the atmosphere and what it felt like to wear them then, including nylon tracksuits,” said Hiroshi. The apparel range honors Hiroshi’s memories with distinct typography evocative of ’80s sportswear and graphics that transpose iconic frames of Micahel Jordan in action that recalls the heritage of the basketball line.

Taking on an understated approach with the lead footwear collaboration, the fragment design x Air Jordan 3 Retro SP serves as an ode to the 2004 Orca pack. The classic shoe is presented in a clean white and black color scheme with a bold fragment logo read through a translucent Jumpman heel tab. The striking branding on the subtly design shoe looks to reflect Hiroshi’s love of the Jumpman logo, which first appeared on the AJ3.

Moving on to a more technical angle, Hiroshi dressed the Air Jordan 35 in a familiar mix of black, blue and white. Inspired by his popular Air Jordan 1 collab, the on-court innovation connects the Japanese figure’s love of nostalgia and innovation. “It’s so different compared to older, vintage shoes. I like the innovations too,” Hiroshi said while talking about the AJ35. “Maybe these shoes will be a holy grail in 10 years, I don’t know.”

Perfectly matching the apparel range, the Jordan Air Cadence is done in a “Neutral Grey” base for a lifestyle appeal. “This is also something new for Jordan, and I was really interested in doing this shoe,” said Hiroshi. “Before this, we did an HTM — the Jordan Trunner NXT React. Since then, I’ve been interested in doing some of Jordan’s running and lifestyle shoes.” All three shoes found in the collaboration are marked with discrete tooling codes on the midsole, that mark the model and season, a signature of fragment design.

The fragment design x Jordan Brand collection releases globally September 17, except for the fragment design x Air Jordan 35 Fragment which drops October 28.
