Packer and New Balance Celebrate Made in the USA Craftsmanship with 992 Collaboration
Accompanied by a lookbook that features the process of Boston-born, Queens-based artist Michael C. Thorpe.
New Balance‘s 992 — the choice of everyone from Steve Jobs to JJJJound and WTAPS — has had an undeniably eventful 2020, and its latest appearance comes by way of Teaneck, New Jersey sneaker stalwarts Packer‘s collaborative effort: the M992PK1. Inspired by the process behind the product and boasting a sturdy, made in the USA construction, the M992PK1 is a celebration of domestic, artisanal craftsmanship and is accompanied by a lookbook starring Boston-born, Queens-based artist Michael C. Thorpe.
Rich wheat and soft tan tones collide in artful fashion on the upper: the former is used on the supple pig suede overlays, while the latter coats the sporty mesh base and throat, plus the suede tongue and plush collar. Pebbled leather pops up directly above the toebox and on the middle eyestay, and silver hi-vis reflective material appears on the midfoot’s N logo as well as the forefoot. Down below, white and gray EVA foam midsoles are loaded with springy silver ABZORB cushioning to make sure the feel matches up with the premium fit.
Check out lookbook images, product shots and a campaign video above, and expect the Packer x New Balance 992 to release exclusively on the Packer webstore come September 12, retailing for $240 USD.
