Nike VaporMax 2020 Gets Stealthy with New "Black/Dark Grey" Colorway
A more toned-down take on the sustainable, FlyEase-equipped silhouette.
During its inaugural months on the market, Nike‘s VaporMax 2020 has displayed a propensity for boldly-colored makeups like the aptly-named “Multicolor” or the “Smoke Grey,” but now it’s toning things down a touch with a “Black/Dark Grey” palette. A stealthily-styled take on the VaporMax line’s latest silhouette, the “Black/Dark Grey” is sleek, sustainable and technically advanced.
Uppers are built from a stark black Flyknit material, with detail provided by a gray Swoosh and gray cross-woven threads. If you look closely, there’s an ever so slight application of multi-colored flecks as well, though those are easy to miss upon a precursory examination. As is par for the course on the VaporMax 2020, laces are discarded in favor of an advanced FlyEase setup. A winch-like system is housed atop the tongue and is tightened by pulling on the “Lock” heel tab, or loosened by tugging on the “Release” tongue tag. This tongue also adds a touch more color with a blue, purple and yellow collage-style print. Insoles get in on the action too with a Nike Sportswear “sunburst” graphic.
Down below, marbled black/grey EVA foam midsoles and toe bumpers add extra texture, with a crystal clear VaporMax cushioning unit rounding off the style. This sole is made of at least 75% recycled content by weight, while the entire shoe boasts a build that’s over 50% recycled content by weight.
The Nike VaporMax 2020 “Black/Dark Grey” will release on the Nike webstore September 10, and is priced at $220 USD.
