A Closer Look at WTAPS' Upcoming New Balance 992 Collaboration
Mixing classic design touches from the two brands.
After WTAPS officially revealed its upcoming take on the New Balance 992 silhouette earlier this week, the sneaker has now received a closer look. The sneaker is dressed in a military-inspired colorway including WTAPS’ signature “Olive Drab” along with touches of New Balance’s classic grey aesthetic.
Offsetting the muted green and grey upper — constructed from mesh, suede and leather panelling — is a bright “Safety Orange” patch towards the forefront of the sole unit. Other premium detailing includes a WTAPS embroidered logo on the heel, branding inside the tongue window and co-branded footbeds.
Announcing the collaboration WTAPS founder Tetsu Nishiyama recently explained the influence of his favorite New Balance 998 sneakers, as well how he mixed New Balance’s heritage with WTAPS’ classic aesthetic.
The collaborative 992WT from WTAPS and New Balance is set to arrive at stockists including END. on May 1. Be sure to hit NewBalance.com for more from the brand.
