WTAPS Reveals Military-Inspired New Balance 992 Collaboration
Featuring the brand’s signature “Olive Drab” aesthetic.
Japanese stalwart WTAPS has revealed its take on New Balance‘s 992 silhouette, debuting an “Olive Drab” and army green colorway. The sneaker features an upper constructed from suede, nubuck and mesh, all of which sits atop a stand-out white and olive midsole.
Contrasting the military colorway, WTAPS has also added a bright orange section towards the forefoot, in reference to the brand’s own design identity. Other features include WTAPS embroidery on the heel, co-branded footbeds Made in USA detailing.
Announcing the sneaker, WTAPS released an interview between founder Tetsu Nishiyama and New Balance’s Tetsuya Shono. In the interview, Tetsu discusses his color choices, relationship to New Balance and the inspiration of his favorite 998 sneakers on the design process.

The WTAPS x New Balance 992 is set to release via the WTAPS online store, New Balance Japan web store and select stockists including Dover Street Market Ginza on May 1.
