Zsela Delivers Mesmerizing Debut EP, 'Ache of Victory'
Continuing to blend ambient instrumentation with meditative balladry.

Zsela caught the ears of music fans far and wide last year with her debut single “Noise,” showcasing fans her entrancing vocal delivery, quickly becoming one of the most promising artists to carry forth the 20th century’s love for New Age music. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Enya and Sinéad O’Connor, as well as other greats like Joan Armatrading and Joni Mitchell, Zsela’s music places her poetics front and center, relaying often-eerie topics through ambient-tinged instrumentation and mediative balladry. Continuing to spotlight her focused approach in sculpting her sound, the NYC singer-writer has now delivered her five-track debut EP titled Ache of Victory.
On the project, Zsela’s magnetic delivery continues to sweep listeners off their feet. Tapping some minimal production from collaborator Daniel Aged (Kelela, Frank Ocean), Ache of Victory gives audiences a lush look at her unmistakable sound — her transcendental cadence remains continuously spotlighted across the project, allowing for her sung melodies to take center stage. As the tracks seamlessly transition between one another, Zsela speaks on topics like addiction on “Drinking” and the difficulties of love on the cathartic “Liza.”
