After 20 years with adidas, current adidas YEEZY General Manager Jon Wexler is leaving the brand. This was Wexler’s final month with the Three Stripes, he departs on August 31.

Both Wexler himself and adidas separately confirmed the departure; Wexler simply replied, “Yes, today is my last day here with the brand” to HYPEBEAST’s inquiry.

“We are grateful for the significant contributions Jon made to the adidas brand during his 20 years with the company,” adidas said in a statement forwarded to HYPEBEAST. “Including the groundbreaking partnerships he established with creators that include Beyoncé, Kanye West and Pharrell. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Wexler is mainly known for his work on Kanye West‘s adidas YEEZY line and for his role in bringing the mercurial creative force to the Three Stripes. During a FNAA event in 2015, West even said that Wexler “basically saved my life” after the two received a “Shoe Of the Year” award for the YEEZY BOOST 350. Wexler was officially named the GM of YEEZY in November 2019, and prior to that held high-ranking positions in adidas’s Entertainment and Influencer Marketing department for over a decade after spending time in Brand Communications.

Apart from his time working with West, Wexler is also responsible in large part for adidas Originals‘ fruitful partnerships with Pharrell and Beyoncé. The marketing maven’s next steps aren’t clear, but an internal adidas memo obtained by Footwear News mentioned that he’d be pursuing “interests outside the company.”
