ANITYA's FW20 Lookbook Contrasts Rugged Terrain and Refined Layering
A sophisticated collection informed by clean lines and textiles.

Emerging Japanese label ANITYA has toyed with sleek shapes in its seasonal offerings since it rebranded from Samsara in 2017. The brand’s Fall/Winter 2020 range upholds its exploration of sleek, refined shapes, setting the elevated garments amidst a rugged mountain landscape.
Informed by neutral tones and relaxed cuts, ANITYA’s FW20 range is dubbed “EXOPHONY,” described as the practice of writing in a language that is not one’s mother tongue. This relates the inspiration behind the range: native herdsman and sherpa who shroud themselves in hand-woven blankets and enormous hats to protect from winter’s chill.
Accompanying these borrowed designs is a variety of ANITYA signatures, including sculpted blazers, boxy trucker jackets, cropped straight-leg pants and layered shirting. Textural intrigue is wrought by wool and leather, abetted by dense cotton twills and gabardines, whose sleek surface makes for a stark counterpart to the more organic items.
