New Balance's X-Racer Utility Drops in Colorful "Outer Space" and "Black Mirage" Makeups
Bright hues and bold branding adorn one of NB’s latest lifestyle silhouettes.
After New Balance‘s X-Racer was given a jolt of energy by an detail-rich Bodega collaboration, it’s back in two “Utility” makeups: “Outer Space” and “Black Mirage.” Using bright colors and a medley of materials, this dynamic duo of X-Racers supplies an appealing amalgamation of retro hiking and modern performance embellishments.
Both pairs are built from ripstop mesh and garnished with suede, nylon and mesh pieces on the overlays, throat, eyestays and more. New Balance branding is present on the quarter panels, thanks to stacked two-tone N graphics that give off a 3D effect. Although “Outer Space” is astral in name, it’s mostly earthy in style thanks to tan and khaki base tones. However, a healthy dose of vibrance is provided by accents ranging from orange to blue and green. Meanwhile “Black Mirage” is more true to its moniker, with a stark black base giving way to purple, red and yellow secondary tones. Each is brought back together by way of a full-foot ABZORB foam midsole and a rugged rubber outsole with off-road tread.
The New Balance X-Racer Utility “Outer Space” and “Black Mirage” are available now at Australian stockists like Above The Clouds, and are priced at $180 AUD (approximately $124 USD) per pair. A US release will likely follow later this summer.
Elsewhere, Soulland has joined forces with Li-Ning for a futuristic running shoe collaboration.
