Bodega Spotlights Collaborative New Balance X-Racer "All Terrain" in New Editorial
Centered around a theme of “New Normal,” and even referencing ‘The Epic of Gilgamesh’.

Bodega has highlighted its latest New Balance collaboration, the X-Racer “All Terrain,” in a sprawling new editorial that’s centered around a theme and concept of “the new normal.” To do this, Bodega and New Balance have looked all the way back to The Epic of Gilgamesh — one of the earliest works of literature in human history — for inspiration, taking a deep dive into man’s ages-old fascination with going off the grid. This creative ethos carries over to the product, which aims to juxtapose city and country while re-interpreting “urban utility,” a popular buzzword for outdoor-themed product.
Apart from this deep, highly conceptual meaning and ethos, the X-Racer itself offers an undeniably appealing technical build. A faux-throwback silhouette that draws inspiration from the late ’90s and early ’00s, it’s dressed in an agglomeration of earthy greys and browns, all while combining materials like suedes, synthetics and ripstops. Bright pops of flair are included too, with purples, aquas and pinks being used for trim and detailing. Detachable tongue straps provide an adjustable aspect, and the midfoot’s N logo is cleverly done up in brown nylon webbing, making it look more like a technical overlay than a branded hit. Thick ABZORB foam midsoles offer a heel shank and an extended mud flap on the rear to complete the look.
The Bodega x New Balance X-Racer will release on the Bodega webstore come June 25. A retail price has yet to be announced. In the meantime, you can shop the X-Racer at NewBalance.com.
