Helmut Lang and Willie Norris Channel the Power of Words in New Collab
Highlighting phrases with a bold and eye-catching design.

Helmut Lang and Willie Norris have teamed up to deliver the “HELMUT LANGUAGE” pre-fall 2020 collection.
Channeling the power of words, the collab highlights the role language plays within fashion. Offering repurposed deadstock jeans, hoodies and long and short-sleeved T-shirts, the duo utilizes impactful phrases that read “CONFESS CONCEAL,” “THE WORDS ARE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU” and “WITH PRACTICE YOU CAN LEARN ANYTHING” in large format and bold colors. Hues of black, red and white are featured as the main scheme of the collection, tied together by minimal branding hits for a final touch.
“HELMUT LANGUAGE” by Willie Norris was originally scheduled to release in late May but was pushed back due to current events surrounding the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery. “With language, we have the freedom to express, to teach, to listen, to learn, to connect, to organize — and to protest. the message is still as relevant as when it was conceived last year, but has taken on new meaning,” the press release states.
With that in mind, Helmut Lang is donating to the ACLU in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, and Norris will be donating the full amount of his design fee for this collab to several Brooklyn grassroots organizations supporting black trans women, along with queer families he’s met that are in need of money.
“HELMUT LANGUAGE” by Willie Norris is available now at Helmut Lang brick-and-mortar stores, select retailers and the Helmut Lang official webshop for $195 USD to $495 USD.
Elsewhere in fashion, Union LA dropped two T-shirts in support for Black Lives Matter.
