ASICS Japan's GEL-PTG MT Receives Weatherproof GORE-TEX Treatment
A technical makeover for the retro silhouette.
ASICS has unveiled a brand new iteration of its GEL-PTG MT. Following its asymmetrical suede GEL-PTG MT “FASTENER” from last month, the Japanese footwear label has opted for a weatherized rendition of the silhuoette — GORE-TEX-treated black and white colorways.
Starting at the top of the silhouette is an embroidered “ASICS” logo, etched over a lightly cushioned tongue. A protective lace guard is placed over the forefoot, boasting a contrasting metallic zipper — wearers have the option of removing the cover for a more classic look. Apart from the textured canvas uppers, the sneaker also comes with smooth leather panels along the eyelets, heel, sidewalls and toecap. All of these details rest over a tonal midsole accompanied by a flattened outsole that mirror’s the look of the retro silhouette’s original 1983 debut.
Though no release dates have been revealed, ASICS’ black and white GEL-PTG MT G-TX is expected to land soon on ASICS Japan’s website for $149 USD.
