Jordan Brand has shared official photos and release info for the Air Jordan 3 “Animal Instinct 2.0.” Following up December 2019’s inaugural “Animal Instinct” style, the 2.0 retains the alternate materials and premium build of its predecessor — but swaps out its safari-inspired stylings in favor of a look that’s much more reptilian, a possible nod to Michael Jordan‘s cold-blooded nature on the basketball court.

Black crocodile leather covers the majority of the upper, working with a black ostrich mudguard as a stark and supple staging ground for many of the other accents. Brown, grey and black python skin appears on the forefoot, with steel grey tongues and eyestays serving up a second dash of snakeskin style.

Although the “Animal Instinct 2.0” is far from being awash in color, the tasteful application of bright tones ensures that each piece stands out. Signature elephant print is presented in brown on the heel, and rich green croc suede hits the collar. Heel tabs swap out plastic for a supple, smooth yellow leather, with a bright blast of red appearing on the tongue’s embroidered Jumpman graphic.

Top and bottom eyestays are split between yellow and red, respectively, and midsoles/outsoles take on bone and black. A finishing touch appears on the red satin tongue liner, thanks to a tonal “Animal Instinct” graphic done up in a wild font.

The Air Jordan 3 “Animal Instinct 2.0” is set to hit Nike SNKRS Korea on May 23, and will retail for $225 USD. It’ll then receive a US Nike SNKRS release on June 6.
