A Closer Look at Suicoke's Divisive Vibram Five Fingers Collaboration
A new spin on the dreaded “toe shoes.”
First glimpsed in the Japanese brand’s Spring/Summer 2020 lookbook, Suicoke has prepped its first remix of Vibram’s Five Finger shoe silhouette for release. Controversial from the moment they publicly launched, the Five Fingers, colloquially known as “toe shoes,” have been remixed with new colorways and heights.
Offered in the usual ankle-height and a new boot silhouette, the shoes are equipped with grippy Vibram rubber outsoles and an elastic upper for a glove-like fit on each toe. Lace-free, the boots sport Vibram’s signature yellow tag on the heel, offering the same printed Suicoke branding on the front as the smaller iterations. Sleek black is complemented by bold yellow, red, blue and white or comparably understated white, black and tan, with contrasting black outsole.
The black colorway of Suicoke’s Five Fingers shoe drops February 15 at Dover Street Market Ginza, with the other colorways set to release later this spring.
Along with its other Spring/Summer 2020 silhouettes, Suicoke has developed various collaborative models, including its latest BEAMS partnership.
