Stray Rats Rings in the New Year With a New Balance 574 Collaborative Capsule
New Year, New Balance.
After showing out strong in 2020, New Balance is ready to further build upon its garnered impetus by starting off the new year with a brand new 574 collaboration with Stray Rats. This news pops up on the radar shortly after the Boston-based sportswear company officially unveiled its position-less TWO WXY basketball sneaker.
Much like the brand’s New Balance 874 and New Balance 990v3 projects that we’ve seen delivered in years past, these forthcoming installments allow loud and vibrant accents to do most of the heavy lifting. The capsule entails two colorways, both each seeing through to hues found on the louder side of the color wheel. First on the roster is an offering that is primarily hues its suede uppers with a mossy green and comes balanced out with teal synthetic underlays and lime green “N” logos. Notes of black tumble onto the shoe strings and Stray Rats tongue logos, while a purple ENCAP mold is placed towards the rear of the midsole.
Its release sibling is one of much brighter allure as most of the real estate is swamped with cherry red suede layers and complemented by hot pink toe boxes and ankle collars. Leather heels, “N” insignias and mid-foot overlays, as well as the laces contrast with a leafy green tone, and arrive offset down below with a saturated red mold on the midsoles.
In addition, both pairs usher in a co-branded hit on the footbeds, and embroider an “SR” acronym on the heels. Both pairs are slated to release on January 8, 2021 via Stray Rats.
Elsewhere in footwear news, New Balance Japan has unveiled new “WAIST TO TOE” jacket silhouettes.
