You could say Lil Yachty has been up to quite a bit of endeavors this year outside of his rap career. Besides creating a jingle for Reese’s Puffs and bringing his show Public Figures to HBO Max, the artist has found himself pursuing yet another project before the end of 2020: YachtyCoin. Yes, it’s his very own cryptocurrency.

Yachty’s new digital currency is an Ethereum-based coin that you can get on a Switzerland-based platform called Fyooz. For those who are unfamiliar with what exactly “Ethereum” is, the website YachtyCoin is being hosted on describes it as “open access to digital money and data-friendly services for everyone — no matter your background or location.” The rapper announced the new venture on Twitter last month: “For all my fans outside the US, I partnered w/ [Fyooz] to make history. My lawyer is making me disclose that I’m being paid If you want to buy access to me #YachtyCoin is coming soon only on the Fyooz App #fyz.” It’s worth noting that Lil Yachty isn’t the first rapper to start his own cryptocurrency. If you jog your memory back two years ago, you might remember Akon announcing Akoin, which, arguably, has a better ring to it.

While Yachty has yet to disclose when the digital currency will officially launch, Fyooz has stated that it will be ready on its platform “soon.”

In case you missed it, Bitcoin has reached a record high for the first time since January 2018.
