The Extensive "Raygun" Pack Welcomes In the Converse Chuck 70 Hi and Pro Leather

This season, the ever-classic “Raygun” motif has been highlighted through an array of Nike sneakers including the Air Raid, Air Force 1 Low and Kyrie 7, and now it will be shown off via Converse as the Chuck 70 Hi and the Pro Leather Hi models are now being welcomed into the ABA collection. The initiative is a nod to the Boston-based brand’s storied roots within the world of basketball, and aims to portray the home and away uniforms of Dr. Funk’s hoops squad from 1975.

Starting off with the Chuck 70 offering, the high-cut iteration makes use of its customary canvas uppers that are dunked in bright white — a salute to the home threads — and this makes way for the surrounding accents to do most of the talking. Lateral sections stamp on the alien mascot basketball logo, while the medial side couples traditional All-Star branding with the Raygun moniker up top, while the team colored stripes bleed onto the eggshell midsoles where they are seen spewing out from a gun. Additional accents poke out through the stark black trim that lines the borders of the throat and ankles, as well as the toe tips which stack yellow and orange overlays together. Footbeds also print out “Rayguns” on them for added flair.

Its release sibling translates the fictional team’s away uniforms by wrapping its base layer leathers in solid black. Lateral exteriors splash yellow notes to the chevron hits and place them next to the alien logo while the opposite side features tonal branding and orange/red stripes that start from the midsole and curve up to the collars. Sole pieces down below contrast with eggshell outers.
