Pre-Auction for Rare Pokémon Box Set Closing in at $300K USD
Following another booster box from September that fetched $198,000 USD.

A pre-auction with Heritage Auctions, the same house that offered a Nintendo Playstation, for a box of rare Pokémon cards is currently closing in at a whopping $300,000 USD. This follows another box set from September that sold for $198,000 USD.
The bids are for a Pokémon First Edition Base Set Sealed Booster Box (Wizards of the Coast, 1999). It’s sealed in its original shrinkwrap and is the “pinnacle of Pokémon box collecting,” notes Heritage Auction in the description. Containing 36 booster packs, a total of 396 cards are included in the set. Heritage Auctions added, “These box sets have become very scarce, due to their low print run, and very few still remain in the sealed state. Since the cards haven’t been handled, they are likely all in GEM MINT condition.” While the box set is shrinkwrapped, the auction house has yet to verify its authenticity as third-party professional grading typically only handles single cards.

In case you missed it, Logic set an auction record with a winning bid of $226,000 USD on a rare Pokémon card last month.
