Detailed Look at the Off-White™ x Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT%
Virgil Abloh and Nike’s latest track and field-inspired style combines a high-performance build with a stripped-back DIY look.
Over the course of Off-White™‘s partnership with Nike and Jordan Brand, Virgil Abloh has mined everything from skateboarding to basketball for inspiration, and his latest collaborative project — the Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% — looks to track and field. An apt follow-up to the designer’s duo of “Athlete in Progress” capsules from 2019, this Tempo NEXT% blends high-performance technology with a stripped-back DIY look.
Constructed of what appears to be Nike Running‘s ultra-light Atomknit woven material, the uppers take on a stark black tone. On the lateral side this is accented by a dripping white Swoosh that looks as if it was painted on by hand; on the medial side Abloh’s signature Helvetica text appears towards the heel. Laces are done up in white as well, and the tongue is trimmed with neon green. Visible through the supposed Atomknit are the yellow insoles, which feature both Swooshes and Off-White™ graphics.
On the lower half, sharply-shaped black midsoles are constructed of ZoomX foam, with a duo of thick volt green Zoom Air pucks placed in the forefoot. “AIR” branding, another Abloh signature, hits the lateral side while standard tonal Nike Running graphics are barely visible on the medial side. The look is completed by volt green track spike-style outsoles with elongated rubber nubs, an embellishment used on past Off-White™ x Nike collaborations like the Zoom Terra Kiger 5 and Vapor Street.
An official release date for the Off-White™ x Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% has yet to be announced, but it’ll likely arrive towards the tail end of 2020.
