James Blake Set To Release New 'Before' EP Tomorrow
Watch a preview for his new song “Do You Ever.”
James Blake has announced his new four-track Before EP, slated to release tomorrow, October 14 at exactly 6:10 PM ET. The upcoming project was previewed in a recent Cadillac video to promote the company’s new 2021 Escalade model. In the introduction video, the GRAMMY Award-winning artist spoke about releasing new music in the midst of the current coronavirus pandemic.
“Honestly it’s a really strange time to release music. I still want to give people music. I still want to have that release myself — my demo, all my new stuff in the car. There’s nothing more satisfying than making something, whether it’s for myself or someone else, and then just jumping in the car and listening to it,” Blake said in the video. The promotional material also previews his new song “Do You Ever.”
Blake has kept busy throughout the current quarantine period, adapting his sound through isolation for a number of covers, collaborations and singles. He teamed up with slowthai and Mount Kimbie for “feel away.” He dropped the official cover of Frank Ocean’s “Godspeed” after premiering his take on the song via livestream. Blake also partnered with the Flatbush Zombies for “Afterlife” and rising Toronto singer-songwriter Mustafa for “Come Back.”
His last solo single “Are You Even Real” released in July and was preceded by his original track “You’re Too Precious” in April.
Stay tuned for James Blake’s upcoming project tomorrow. In more music updates, Omar Apollo longs for connection in his latest song “Want U Around” from his new album Apolonio, out this Friday, October 16.
