James Blake Drops Official Version of Frank Ocean Cover "Godspeed"
Finally available to stream on major platforms.
James Blake has finally dropped the official version of his beloved cover of Frank Ocean‘s “Godspeed” on Spotify and Apple Music.
The stripped-down rendition hears the English singer-songwriter pair his angelic vocals with a simple piano background, adding a stronger touch of intimacy to the cover. Blake has covered the Blonde cut in the past — once in 2017 while closing out Arizona’s FORM Arcosanti and again in January 2020, sharing it on social media — but this is the first official version of his interpretation. Unbeknownst to some, Blake has a well-rooted history with “Godspeed”; he originally co-produced the track with Ocean, Om’Mas Keith and Malay Ho, and sampled the track on 2016’s “Always,” also crediting Ocean as the song’s co-writer.
