After launching their long term partnership with the 2020/21 home kit earlier this year, Nike Football and Liverpool have now revealed the third kit for the upcoming season. The design that will be worn by the Premier League champions over the course of the season continues Nike’s references to Air Max colorways for new kits.
Coming in a black and “Anthracite” checkerboard design, the kit also references famous European nights at Anfield, with the pattern chosen as a nod to the flags that hang on the Kop. This colorway is offset with hits of “Crimson Red” on the side paneling and neckline as well as touches of “Wolf Grey” on the V-neck. The combination of colors chosen brings to mind a classic Air Max 95 colorway from the Nike archives.
Showing the bond between the club and its fans, Nike has worked with Liverpool supporters group Spion Kip 1906 and local supporter and fashion designer Nadia Atique to model the collection in the streets of Liverpool.
Unveiling the kit, Nike VP of Football Apparel Scott Munson said, “For the Liverpool FC third kit we explored the long-standing traditions of the club and how we could bring that to life through the lens of sneaker culture. We were inspired by the atmosphere of the Kop on those special European nights and an iconic Air Max colourway, combined to create a third kit that delivers on style and performance.”
