Spillage Village Debut New Single "Baptize"
‘Spiligion’ drops September 25 via Dreamville Records.
Atlanta rap collective Spillage Village is prepping for the release of Spiligion with the new single, “Baptize.”
Arriving with an accompanying music video, the Caleb Seales-directed visual sees EarthGang and J.I.D. either in a church setting or in a forest. Regardless of where they’re placed, however, a group of people in all-white stand behind them acting as either the church choir or gun-wielding allies. Spillage Village isn’t shy with using religious references that fall in line with the concept of baptism, namedropping Adam and Eve, comparing David from the tale David and Goliath to Tom Brady and reading from the book of Genesis.
“Baptize” follows the collective’s “End of Daze” from June 2020, and both tracks are slated to appear on their forthcoming studio album Spiligion. The record is their first full-length since 2016’s Bears Like This Too Much and marks the group’s first release under Dreamville.
