Giveon Delivers New 'When It's All Said And Done' EP
Following his critically-acclaimed ‘Take Time’ project.
Giveon has had a breakout year in 2020. After a stand-out feature on Drake’s “Chicago Freestyle”, the rising singer-songwriter delivered his Take Time. Now he’s surprised fans with a follow-up: the four track When It’s All Said And Done.
Clocking in at just under 10 minutes, the project is packed with emotional ballads and taps Snoh Aalegra for the lone feature on “Last Time.” The artist also explained that he wanted his new offering to be an extension of his lauded Take Time release. “I want everyone to know this project has a story being told from start to finish and I was very particular with the sonics; as if I was scoring a film,” he said in a recent statement.
“So the interesting thing about artistry is I didn’t know exactly which route I wanted to take. Because I have this voice, but that voice doesn’t necessarily have to be R&B or soul or what have you,” Giveon told Apple Music in an interview earlier this week upon the premiere of his single “Stuck On You.” He continued, “It took me time to figure out what it is that I wanted to do with it. Also, it was a voice I wasn’t used to hearing in the East side of Long Beach. So at the very beginning, I thought my voice was kind of weird, to be honest.”
