As part of Mobile Suit Gundam‘s 40th anniversary, Gundam has released a special movie via YouTube called “G40 Project.” This special showcases the very first Gundam series with new animations, highlighting a space battle between the Earth Federation’s Amuro and the Principality of Zeon’s Char. It also features a new tested and designed Gundam model from Ken Okuyama.
The footage above also features several famous scenes from the original anime redone with contemporary animation, with the end credits showcasing the original mobile suit designs by Okuyama and a new theme song from LDH JAPAN. Although the 40th anniversary has passed, there are more Mobile Suit Gundam announcements poised to arrive this year, including the game Mobile Suit Gundam vs Maxiboost finally making its way to the Americas and a “Gundam Satellite” launching later this year as part of the 2020 Summer Olympics.
