For COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT, there was a big focus on button-up shirts in all different kinds of makeups — from long sleeve offerings that combined box-pleated abstract watercolor front panels with traditional blue-and-white pinstriped sleeves, to patchwork pieces and more.
Notable looks at the Paris Fashion Week runway presentation included a super-long-line shirt that transitioned from a pinstriped blue-collar offering into a geometric patchwork print, as well as its selection of pastel-hued shirts that were split in the middle. Tailoring also appeared in the form of overcoats featuring cut-outs down the front, multi-pocketed blazers, wool overcoats that sported patchwork pieces that were attached via buckles, and deconstructed blazers complete with contrast top-stitching.
COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT also presented its first collaboration with fellow Japanese imprint ASICS. Aside from the collaborative Spalwarts worn by the runway models, the other pair in question was the GEL-LYTE 3, which appeared in a premium grey leather makeover complete with a green sole unit, white branding and a standout multicolored camouflage print across the toe box, mid-panels, tongue and rear quarter. Rounding out the FW20 presentation was a series of Futura-designed pieces, ranging from organically cut-out shirts, PVC tote bags, paneled button-ups and patchwork shirts that each combined traditional CDG SHIRT design tropes with Futura’s signature graffiti-styled approach.
