Netflix Acquires Rights to 21 Studio Ghibli Movies
Although the films won’t be available in North America or Japan.
Netflix has announced that it has acquired the rights to 21 different Studio Ghibli movies, meaning that the some of the most famous films from the legendary studio will hit the streaming service for the first time. Unfortunately, Netflix will not be able to provide these titles in North America or Japan, where other rights deals already exist.
According to reports in The Hollywood Reporter, the Studio Ghibli films will arrive on Netflix in three separate batches, with the first set of titles scheduled to arrive as early as February 1. The titles will be available in all other Netflix regions, with subtitles in 28 languages and dubs available in 20.
