Singer-songwriter Rina Sawayama has announced her long-awaited debut album SAWAYAMA, set to release on April 17 via The 1975’s record label, Dirty Hit. The long-awaited follow-up to her 2017 RINA EP, the artist’s forthcoming project will include a newly released track titled “Comme Des Garçons (Like The Boys).”

Bringing forth a house-focused foundation, the latest track “pays homage to the early 2000s dance tracks that made me feel confident,” Sawayama shared via press release. She added that SAWAYAMA will thematically focus on “family and identity,” a theme that has continued to sculpt her life:

It’s about understanding yourself in the context of two opposing cultures (for me British and Japanese), what ‘belonging’ means when home is an evolving concept, figuring out where you sit comfortably within and awkwardly outside of stereotypes, and ultimately trying to be ok with just being you, warts and all.

Sawayama has also announced an accompanying tour for the project’s release, which will see her performing across North America and Europe during April and May. You can listen to “Comme Des Garçons (Like The Boys)” and find the entirety of her “Dynasty Tour” dates below.
