Drawing inspiration from one of Michael Jordan‘s many nicknames, Jordan Brand‘s Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat” was an instant hit when it first released in 2006, and now the stark sneaker is set for its first-ever retro. Simultaneously stealthy and showy, the “Black Cat” is one of the most memorable non-OG Air Jordan 4 colorways, and the attention to detail on this reworked iteration is noticeable.

Crafted from monochromatic nubuck, the uppers present a matte finish accented by hits of glossy jet black on the midfoot and tongue netting, the eyestays, and the heel’s plastic Jumpman logo. A graphite-colored Air Jordan Flight logo is present on the tongue badge, providing the upper’s only deviation from its strict adherence to a tonal palette.

Down below, the midsoles offer more high-gloss detailing that encircles a black Air unit, and a final graphite Jumpman logo is present on the middle of the rubber outsole.

An apt follow-up to 2019’s Air Jordan 4 “Cool Grey” and the wild Air Jordan 4 “What The,” the “Black Cat” will slink its way onto the digital shelves of Nike SNKRS come January 22, with an MSRP of $190 USD.

If you prefer the Air Jordan 5 to the Air Jordan 4, check out the new Off-White™ x Air Jordan 5, a collaborative design from Virgil Abloh that was revealed at Paris Fashion Week.
