Our Legacy Unveils Coming of Age-Inspired FW20 Collection
Referencing youthful rebellion and subverting authority.
Stockholm-based label Our Legacy has presented its Fall/Winter 2020 collection, taking inspiration from the coming of age period for young adults. This period is referenced through the collection’s take on authoritarian uniforms, with deconstructed suit jackets and unconventional tailoring.
Elsewhere, the collection also nods to the idea of youthful rebellion with a focus on worn denim as well as boots with hand-drawn brake tracks, skull and crossbones knitwear and printed T-shirts.
Speaking about the collection’s inspiration, Our Legacy creative director Christopher Nying explained that “your view on the world changes when you realize that it is not as forgiving as you thought it would be. The realization might come through the influence of older siblings or the everlasting impressions after watching your first horror or fantasy movie. After that door has been opened, things are never the same again and you start to experience new emotions and reach a new understanding. The grey area between youthful naivety and adulthood is interesting, because everything is still undefined and finding its place. And you are trying to find your own place at the same time.”
