As part of Mortal Kombat 11‘s first Kombat Pack DLC, DC Comics‘ abominable Joker is slated to be the next new character to join the roster. In light of this, NetherRealm Studios has released a trailer giving fans a first look at Joker’s gameplay.

As one would expect from a trickster-clown like Joker, his fighting style involves a whole array of playful-looking yet deadly toys and gadgets. Predominantly beating opponents with his signature cane, the Gotham villain also employs other clown-like props such as a pair of spring-loaded boxing gloves, an exploding Jack-in-the-Box toy, and even a gun disguised within a Batman doll. One move even sees him send over a kidnapped hostage dressed just like himself hop over to this enemy, with his head blown off before exploding entirely to damage Joker’s enemy. As usual, though, the spotlight is obviously on his Fatality move, which creatively brings back the Friendship mechanism — a non-violent alternative to ending your opponent — only for it be a trick. What appears to be a cake from Joker is actually a bomb, which explodes and tears off his enemies limbs. Joker then shoots him with a machine gun before the Friendship sign above the opponent’s head falls down and splits him in half, with the words now written in blood spelling “FATALITY.”

DC fans will be excited to know that in addition to Joker, Kombat Pack owners will also be getting a series of DC-themed character skins, including “Time Lord of Apokolips” Geras, “Darkest Kight” Noob Saibot aka The Batman Who Laughs, “Killer Kroc” Baraka, and “Katwoman of Outworld” Kitana.

For Mortal Kombat 11 players with access to the first Kombat Pack, Joker will be playable January 28.

Elsewhere in gaming, Cyberpunk 2077 has been postponed until September.
