The basketball game of the year has arrived. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect from the upcoming NBA 2K20 edition. HYPEBEAST has rounded up the standout features to look out for in the latest game, from the impeccable soundtrack to the rising rookies on the cusp of greatness.

Cover

The cover stars for the latest edition of NBA 2K20 are Dwayne Wade on the Legend Edition and Anthony Davis on the Standard and Deluxe Editions. Wade’s appearance on the Legend Edition comes after he officially retired from the sport at the end of the season. This is Davis’ second appearance on the cover after he appeared on NBA 2K16 alongside Steph Curry and James Harden.

Dynamic Duos

NBA 2K20 reveals some of the league’s best players in their latest uniforms, including dynamic duos James Harden and Russell Westbrook sporting their Houston Rockets jerseys and Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in the fiery colors of the Brooklyn Nets. In honor of one of the most surprising trades of the free agency, 2K Games also unveiled Anthony Davis in purple and gold for a reinvigorated Los Angeles Lakers team alongside LeBron James.

Soundtrack

This year’s installment features cuts such as Post Malone’s “Wow” Remix with Roddy Ricch and Tyga, Offset’s “Legacy” with Travis Scott and 21 Savage. Juice WRLD’s “Hear Me Calling,” Gunna’s “Big Shot,” TroyBoi and Billie Eilish’s “MyBoi” remix and, of course, “Sandra Rose” by Toronto Raptors superfan and brand ambassador Drake also appear on the playlist. On top of the initial release, 2K confirmed that it will continue to expand the soundtrack listing with songs from both mainstream and underground artists.

The Next Neighborhood

NBA 2K’s playful, social location gets a slick makeover for 2K20. As well as being the perfect place to hone your skills, it also serves as the best place to earn exclusive gear, such as new animations, name plates and character outfits. 2K Compete Events also return, featuring a greatly expanded selection of casual multiplayer modes such as Dodge Ball Rodeo and Red Ball Blue Ball Extreme. Following the success of Don C and Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo in last year’s game, 2K continues to bridge the gap between fashion and gaming by collaborating with an array of brands for NBA 2K20. This year’s edition will feature the likes of Just Don, Fear of God, Rhude, Chinatown Market, Staple Pigeon, Diamond Supply and many more.

Player Ratings

2K has revealed the ratings for the top 20 players in the upcoming game. Similar to last year’s ratings, LeBron James remains at the top spot with 97 overall, followed by his new West Coast rival and recent 2019 NBA Finals MVP and champion, Kawhi Leonard. Rounding out the top five are MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant and James Harden all with a rating of 96.

Rookies

Zion Williamson hasn’t even made his NBA debut yet and already the New Orleans Pelicans forward has made big waves in the community. The acclaimed 19-year-old rookie is one of many exciting prospects starting their NBA career this season. Play as Jaxson Hayes, Brandon Clarke and many more, unlocking their potential abilities in season mode.

WNBA

NBA 2K20 features all 12 WNBA teams that are available in the Play Now and Season modes. Los Angeles Sparks forward Candace Parker, Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart of the Seattle Storm had their faces and signature play styles captured for NBA 2K20.

NBA 2K20 is out now for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Pick up your copy here.
