Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man Reported to Appear in 'Black Widow'
The standalone film releases next year.

With the Black Widow standalone set to debut next year, reports of an in-film appearance from Robert Downey Jr. and his Tony Stark/Iron Man counterpart have been surfacing.
Warning: Mild spoilers ahead.
Although both Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow character and the OG Avenger met their untimely deaths in Avengers: Endgame to save the universe from Thanos, the prequel film will take place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, which means both characters are still alive. The news was shared in Deadline‘s recent piece on Marvel‘s successes at Friday night’s Saturn Awards.
Although Marvel has yet to confirm the news, it is still unknown if Downey Jr.’s appearance will manifest itself from unused footage from previous films, or if the actor will be filming new scenes. Black Widow made her debut in Iron Man 2.
During Disney‘s D23 Expo, an official Black Widow poster was revealed showcasing a first look at Red Guardian (played by David Harbour) and Yelena (played by Florence Pugh). The Marvel Cinematic Universe film releases May 1, 2020.
In case you’ve missed it, Robert Downey Jr. may also reprise his role as Iron Man in new Disney+ series.
