Marvel Studios has officially debuted the second trailer for Avengers: Doomsday during Disney’s D23 fan convention, revealing a deeper look at the villainous return of Robert Downey Jr. The fresh look expands on the scale of the upcoming MCU crossover event.
Introduced onstage by leads Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell, the footage opens with Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) warning Earth’s heroes while detailed shots showcase Doom’s villainous costume. The clip quickly escalates into a tense confrontation between Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and Doctor Doom among rubble, followed by Thor (Chris Hemsworth) promising that the villain will be begging for hell. As Thor strikes with his axe, Stormbreaker, Doom effortlessly blocks the weapon, repels the Asgardian with a beam of green energy, and raises a collection of classic X-Men Sentinels, declaring, “Hell answers to me, for I am Doom.”
The high-octane sequence sets the stage for a massive cinematic crossover uniting the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the Thunderbolts against Doom’s force. Beyond the core MCU lineup, the trailer highlights the official MCU integration of several legacy Fox X-Men stars, including Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Avengers: Doomsday officially arrives in theaters on December 18.
