Netflix has officially released the first teaser trailer for Animals, an upcoming kidnapping thriller starring and directed by Ben Affleck. The project marks the latest high-profile production from Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity banner.
The tense, dialogue-free teaser follows a Los Angeles mayoral candidate (Affleck) and his wife (Kerry Washington) whose comfortable family life unravels after an ominous phone call reveals their young son (Christopher Woodley) has been abducted. Forced to scramble to raise ransom payments, the couple is pushed into making desperate, high-stakes decisions to save their family.
In addition to directing and starring, Affleck co-wrote the screenplay with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray. Produced alongside Matt Damon and Luciana Damon, the feature also features an ensemble supporting cast including Steven Yeun, Gillian Anderson, Adriana Paz, Ray Fisher, Matt Gerald, Jacob Estrada, and Luis Gerardo Méndez.
Animals officially premieres in select theaters and streams globally on Netflix on October 9.
