Back in July, YBN Cordae released his anticipated solo album The Lost Boy. Comprised of 15 tracks, The Lost Boy found YBN Cordae completely breaking out of his crew’s sonic boundaries, choosing to focus on sharp, tightly-knit lyricism above all else. Notably, the project also featured guest appearances by Pusha T, Anderson .Paak, Meek Mill, Chance the Rapper, Ty Dolla $ign and Arin Ray. Now, continuing to bring attention to his recent LP’s records, the YBN emcee is debuting a visual for one of its highlights, “Broke As F*ck.” Directed by Josh Forman and the talented APlusFilmz crew, the clip for “Broke As F*ck” follows YBN Cordae as he takes a hectic trip through some pretty dire scenarios and situations.
“Man, I just wanted to express myself and be vulnerable,” YBN Cordae explained to Billboard last month, discussing the highly-personal, reflective writing and recording sessions behind some of The Lost Boy‘s tracks. “That’s just what I found myself doing, just being a vulnerable artist, person and human being. Fuck an artist, I’m a human being at the end of the day. So I’m just expressing myself and being more vulnerable. It’s like just speaking my truths.”
