YBN Cordae, J. Cole & Anderson .Paak Connect for New Single "RNP"
Another song off Cordae’s ‘The Lost Boy’ LP.
Towards the beginning of this month, YBN Cordae revealed the cover-art and release date for his forthcoming studio album The Lost Boy. Now, following up his previous Lost Boy single “Bad Idea” featuring Chance the Rapper, the YBN lyricist is sharing another high-profile cut from his upcoming solo LP’s tracklist, “RNP.” Premiered on today’s edition of Ebro Darden’s Beats 1 program, “RNP” features Anderson .Paak and finds J. Cole handling production duties.
“We did it in this very exact room. You know Anderson, he got the .Paak House. I came in, we did that, chopped it up,” YBN Cordae explained to Ebro Darden, breaking down the back-story behind his new “RNP” record. “Anderson .Paak, that’s like my bro, that’s like my best friend outside of music. J. Cole made that beat — I had a completely different song for that beat. AP like, ‘the song is alright, but this beat is crazy; let’s do some shit over this beat.’ I was like, ‘f*ck it, let’s do it.’ Anderson’s like James Brown and Marvin Gaye.”
