Filling Pieces Experiments With Dip-Dyeing in FW19 Collection
Collaborating with research and development center @mattttttttter.

Filling Pieces releases the latest drop from its Fall/Winter 2019 collection, “NEW WORLD,” featuring hand-dyed ready-to-wear pieces. The drop showcases the brand’s experimentation with dyeing materials, teaming up with @mattttttttter for a complete selection of looks.
Filling Pieces first began exploring different ways of approaching the process by dyeing an entire sneaker at one time, rather than its individual parts separately. The Lay Up Icey basketball-inspired sneaker is a result of this experimentation. Because the sneaker is comprised of different materials, the premium suede, nubuck and canvas upper all take on their own appearance after dyeing. Inspired by how the sneaker turned out, the Amsterdam-based label teamed up with @mattttttttter, a research and development center that investigates alternative ways of using materials. Filling Pieces’s goal was to mix traditional techniques of custom dyeing with the contemporary aesthetics of its own brand.
The @mattttttttter x Filling Pieces items include hoodies, sweat pants and long sleeves — all in a gray and purple base color. Filling Pieces is offering 50 of the custom-dyed pieces as well as Lay Up Icey Dip Dye sneakers in peach, dark green and navy blue. Each piece has its own unique pattern due to the hand-dyeing process.
The sneakers will be available on August 16 on Filling Pieces’s website and at select retail locations. The hand-dyed collaboration will only be available online.
