After a string of teasers — most recently including a detailed look at the collaborative Blazer Mid in white — sacai and Nike have officially revealed their latest collaborative capsule. As well as the white Blazer Mid, the footwear will also see the Blazer Mid reworked into black, while the LDWaffle is also set to drop in two monochrome editions and an eye-catching pink, green and orange design that first emerged earlier this year.
All five sneaker releases continue the doubled-up and overlapping aesthetic of previous releases, including double Swooshes, laces and tongues. Speaking about the design process, Nike’s Special Projects Senior Director Fraser Cooke explained that Nike “literally got two photocopied pictures of two different shoes that they folded in half and put on top of each other” from sacai.
The collaborative sacai x Nike footwear collection will release with an accompanying apparel capsule. Apparel pieces also reflect the hybrid aesthetic of the sneakers, including Windrunner jackets transformed into skirts and shorts. Announcing the collection, sacai’s Chitose Abe explained that, “Often, I take the things I like from two different items of clothing and splice them together to create a whole that is bigger than the sum of its parts, I express the end result as a ‘hybrid.’”
Take a look through the full collection in the gallery above, and expect the apparel and footwear to release in September. The first apparel pieces and the LDWaffle will arrive on September 12, followed by the Blazer Mid and more apparel on September 19.
