Alexander Lee Chang Upgrades Vans Era With Magnetic Fidlock Closure
The waterproof shoes include eVent lining for maximum breathability.

Following last winter’s bespoke Sk8-Hi, Alexander Lee Chang has reunited with Vans for another special sneaker. For Fall/Winter 2019, the Japanese brand is issuing a unique twist on the Era, complete with custom closure and lining.
Executed in waterproof nylon and neppy suede, the low-top skate shoes boast eVent lining, combining weather resistant functionality with maximum breathability. To further elevate the sneaker, an extra-grippy outsole ensures stability on icy sidewalks and the laces have ben swapped out for a hefty magnetic buckle courtesy of Germany’s Fidlock. Simultaneously secure and simple, the buckle allows for single-handed detachment for easy access.
SHELTER Tokyo’s Japan-only web store and global Rakuten web store will host the drop on January 11 for ¥30,240 JPY, tax included (approximately $285 USD), with pre-orders going live on August 9.
Most recently, the humble Era arrived in patchwork and Mt. Vernon editions.
