Giannis Antetokounmpo's Latest Nike Zoom Freak 1 Is Inspired by Eddie Murphy's 'Coming to America'

Nike, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Paramount Pictures are teaming up for an official Coming to America-inspired Zoom Freak 1 and apparel collaboration.
Tagged as the Athens-born athlete’s favorite film, the collection takes design cues from the royal garb worn by Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem in the 1988 cult classic. The basketball silhouette teases a faint cheetah print underneath a black mesh overlay, highlighted by gold detailing on the midsole’s reversed velvet swoosh and the embroidered branding on the tongue. Similar patterns land on the accompanying pieces — regal patterns grace the track jacket’s sleeves and basketball shorts’ sideseam, while the animal graphic touches on the T-shirt and cap’s “Freak” labeling.
